About Cry in the Dark
Founded in 1998 by Steve Cooper, Cry in the Dark began by rescuing children from dire conditions in Romanian orphanages. Today, they run:
- Casa Lumina: A home-for-life for young adults with special needs
- Hospice services: Including Romania’s only paediatric hospice
- Community outreach: Supporting Roma communities and Ukrainian refugees
- Volunteer programmes: Welcoming UK schools and churches to serve in Romania
Their vision:
“To put Christian love and compassion into action by reaching out to children and young people of any race, creed or faith who are marginalised by poverty, sickness or disability.”
Chris’s Story
Our family have a long-standing connection with Cry in the Dark, including volunteering at Casa Albert and supporting his daughter Rhianna’s work with the charity. This ride is a personal and spiritual commitment to continue that support.
